DIRECTORATE GENERAL OF SPECIAL EDUCATION ALL SET TO MAKE HEADWAYS TOWARDS INCLUSIVE EXCELLENCE: PROCLAIMS FEDERAL MINISTER DR KHALID MAQBOOL SIDDIQUI
Islamabad, March 20, 2025: Directorate General of Special Education (DGSE), Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training hosted Mega event “Special Abilities Expo & Spring Plantation Drive” in collaboration with Capital Development Authority (CDA) at National Special Education Centre for Hearing Impaired Children, H-9. The event was graced by Federal Minister of Education and Professional Training Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui as Chief Guest and State Minister Ms. Wajiha Qamar as guest of honor.
On behalf of Mr. Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani, Secretary, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, the Director General, Special Education Capt (R) Asif Iqbal Asif in his opening remarks highlighted the services and facilities of special education centres under DGSE and elaborated on new initiatives being undertaken by the ministry to uplift the potential and productivity of special education in the federal capital.
The Federal Minister, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, commended the special children for their talents and reaffirmed the government's unwavering commitment to ensuring quality education, training, and rehabilitation for children with special needs. Guest of Honor, Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Ms Wajiha Qamar , expressed her delight being among special children.
The event was marked by flamboyant performances by special children with a particularly heartwarming rendition of the national anthem in sign language. Worthy Ministers, DG Environment CDA and dignitaries engaged with the children, taking photographs and sharing joyous moments. Following the performances, the guests visited stalls showcasing crafts made by special students and viewed display of the assistive technology & rehab devices .A dedicated exhibition featuring paintings by hearing impaired students highlighted their hidden artistic talents and was widely admired by the attendees. The various stalls of DGSE and FDE institutes in the event displayed inclusivity and support to the children with disabilities.
Concluding the event, honorable Federal Minister, Minister of State, DG Environment CDA, Ms Nazia Abrar Khan and Capt.(R) Asif Iqbal Asif, DG Special Education planted the saplings along special children, marking the launch of the Spring Plantation Drive, symbolizing growth, renewal, and a greener future. The event successfully highlighted the resilience, talent, and potential of special children, reinforcing the commitment of the government and stake holders towards inclusive excellence.
