Today, Tuesday, April 28, 2026, on the directions of the Federal Secretary, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, a meeting was held at the Head Office of the Directorate General of Special Education (DGSE) to strengthen collaboration on Life Skills Based Education (LSBE) for children with disabilities, in partnership with UNFPA and ACT International.
The meeting was chaired by Mrs. Asna Aziz, Director (Administration), DGSE, and brought together key stakeholders including representatives from UNFPA, ACT International, and special education experts. Participants included Ms. Zahra Jabeen (Program Analyst, UNFPA), Ms. Nadia Riasat (Project Manger, ACT), Mr. Ghazanfar Ali Khan (Training & Education Specialist), Mr. Hameed Ullah Satti (LSBE Specialist), along with Social Education consultants and DGSE officers.
The session featured:

  • A pictorial orientation of DGSE’s Service Delivery Centres
  • A presentation by UNFPA & ACT International showcasing LSBE initiatives across provinces
  • Presenting and gifting a valuable set of LSBE resource materials to DGSE to review and reflect upon for future integration

As a way forward, UNFPA and ACT International, in collaboration with DGSE, will undertake joint on-site visits to all five Special Education Service Delivery Centres for comprehensive need assessment.
It has been mutually agreed that the upcoming summer break will be strategically utilized for:

  • Capacity building of teachers
  • Strengthening parental engagement
  • Organizing student-centered summer camps focused on LSBE thematic areas

This collaboration marks a significant step towards promoting inclusive, life skills based education, empowering children and adolescents with disabilities in daily lives.
