DGSE Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusion and Rehabilitation on World Cerebral Palsy Day
Islamabad, 6 October 2026: The Directorate General of Special Education (DGSE) observed World Cerebral Palsy Day, reaffirming its commitment to the dignity, education, rehabilitation and meaningful participation of children and persons with cerebral palsy in society. In his message on the occasion, Director General Special Education, Syed Tauqeer Hussain Shah, highlighted the abilities, aspirations and achievements of persons with cerebral palsy and emphasized the importance of individualized support for mobility, communication, learning, independence and vocational skills. He stated that DGSE institutions, including the National Special Education Centre for PHC and the National Training Centre for Special Persons (NTCSP), are supporting diverse rehabilitation needs associated with different forms of cerebral palsy. The Director General expressed gratitude to the Federal Secretary and the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training for strengthening the physiotherapy unit and orthopaedic workshop and facilitating specialized human resources through outsourcing to supplement the permanent workforce and address service delivery gaps. He also appreciated the dedication of teachers, therapists, rehabilitation professionals, administrative and support staff, and families, acknowledging their collective contribution towards the development and rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy. Concluding his message, the Director General stressed the need to ensure accessible services and inclusive opportunities for every child with cerebral palsy so that they can learn, grow and pursue their aspirations as a matter of right.
