MoFEPT Revamps Special Children Institute to Strengthen Inclusive Education

Islamabad, September 2: The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT) has taken a landmark step towards strengthening inclusive education by revamping the Special Children Institute viz. Rehabilitation Center for Children with Developmental Disorder (RCCDD), Islamabad, in line with international best practices.

Federal Secretary MoFEPT, Mr. Nadeem Mahbub, along with Secretary Planning, Mr. Awais Manzur Sumrah, and Special Secretary Finance, Ms. Nasheeta Mariam Mohsin, visited the institute to inspect the newly upgraded facilities.

As part of the initiative, four state of the art therapy rooms have been established to provide comprehensive support for children with autism and other special needs. These include: Speech Therapy Room, Soft Therapy Room, Sensory Therapy Room and Music Therapy Room.

Speaking on the occasion, the Federal Secretary stated that these initiatives represent a paradigm shift in the provision of inclusive education, focusing on holistic child development, technology integration, and empowerment of children with special needs.

MoFEPT has also outlined the following priority areas as part of its forward strategy:

  • Promotion of public-private partnerships
  • Introduction of digital and assistive technologies
  • Integration of inclusive policies across the education system
  • Establishment of MoFEPT’s Special Education Model as a Center of Excellence

MoFEPT reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that every child, particularly those with autism and other special needs, is provided with opportunities to grow, thrive, and contribute meaningfully to society.
