MoFEPT Celebrates International Day of Persons with Disabilities Renewing Commitment to Inclusion and Accessibility

Wednesday 3rd December 2025: The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT), through its Directorate General of Special Education (DGSE), proudly commemorated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) with a vibrant and inclusive event that celebrated the rights, abilities, and aspirations of individuals with disabilities. This significant occasion reaffirmed MoFEPT's dedication to fostering an environment of inclusion and accessibility.

The program featured an array of heartfelt performances by talented children from special education centers, demonstrating their remarkable creativity and potential. The celebration opened with a stirring rendition of the national anthem in Pakistan Sign Language, performed by deaf students from the National Special Education Center for Hearing Impaired Children, Islamabad. This was followed by an inspiring recitation of holy verses by visually impaired student Moazzam Ali and a captivating rendition of Qaseeda Burda Sharif by students from the National Special Education Center for Physically Challenged Children, captivating the audience's admiration.

The event showcased incredibly talented intellectually challenged children who delivered impressive stage performances, earning thunderous applause. Visually impaired student Master Fawad Alam mesmerized attendees with enchanting folk instrumental music, setting the stage for the grand finale, where students from the National Training Centre for Special Persons donned cultural attire representing all provinces and regions, creating a captivating and festive atmosphere within the auditorium.

In his welcoming address, Federal Secretary Mr. Nadeem Mahbub highlighted the newly developed comprehensive roadmap for Special Education at MoFEPT, designed to ensure accessible infrastructure, modern assistive technologies, and the strengthening of human resources through specialized teacher training. He provided updates on key initiatives encompassing education, rehabilitation, and vocational training, which are being implemented with support from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnerships.

The event was graced by the presence of Minister of State for MoFEPT, Ms. Wajiha Qamar as Chief Guest, and Parliamentary Secretary MoFEPT, Ms. Farah Naz, who honored the occasion as the Guest of Honor. In her address, Minister of State for MoFEPT articulated a powerful message, stating, "Today is not a day about disability; it is a celebration of possibilities. Our special children possess extraordinary potential, and it is our duty to nurture and support their journeys". Parliamentary Secretary for MoFEPT emphasized unwavering pledge to inclusivity, affirming, “We are dedicated to ensuring that no one is left behind. The inclusion of children with special needs is not merely a policy objective; it is a moral imperative we must uphold.”

Throughout the festivities, the Minister of State, Parliamentary Secretary, and Federal Secretary expressed their delight and admiration for the resilient performers, consistently applauding the children as they showcased their extraordinary talents on stage.

Following the ceremony, Captain (R) Asif Iqbal Asif, Director General of DGSE, led the Minister of State and Parliamentary Secretary on an insightful tour of DGSE facilities. They observed ongoing interventions and improvements, gaining an appreciation for the revitalization initiatives spearheaded by DGSE. The event also recognized children selected for regional games and the Special Olympics, honoring their participation and achievements as esteemed guests.

MoFEPT reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to creating an inclusive, accessible, and empowering environment for all children with disabilities across Pakistan, ensuring that every child is celebrated for their unique talents and potential.
