DGSE Showcases Innovations in Special Education at International Youth Day Celebration

Islamabad, August 12, 2024 – The Directorate General of Special Education (DGSE) set up an impressive stall at the Pak China Friendship Centre, Shakar Parian, Islamabad, as part of the International Youth Day celebrations. The display featured Braille books, sign language materials, brochures, digital assistive devices for the visually impaired, handicrafts made by differently-abled students, and artificial limbs aimed at the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities (PWDs). The stall garnered significant public attention, with many visitors expressing admiration for the innovations presented.

Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif alongwith ministers visited the stall, where he commended the DGSE's efforts in promoting special education and rehabilitative services for PWDs. He was briefed by Mr. Muhammad Amir and Mr. Islam Raziq, Deputy Directors of DGSE, about the various facilities and initiatives aimed at the training and rehabilitation of PWDs, empowering them to lead independent lives.

The event was supported by a dedicated team, including Mrs. Saima Rana, Deputy Chief Librarian, Ms. Farah Hafeez, Speech Therapist, Mr. Haroon, Social Case Worker, and Mr. Muhammad Asif, Cataloguer, who were deputed to manage the stall.

The DGSE's efforts were widely applauded by visitors for its contributions to special education and rehabilitation, helping differently-abled individuals become self-reliant. The event was hailed as a great success, further promoting the DGSE's mission of inclusion and empowerment.
