Strengthening Nutrition Education in Special Education:Nestlé for Healthier Kids (N4HK) Faculty Training Initiative
N4HK Training Kicked Off at Special Education Centres of DGSE
Under the vision of the Secretary, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT), to strengthen Special Education in ICT through holistic capacity building, institutional strengthening, and meaningful CSR engagements, the Nestle for Healthier Kids (N4HK) Programme commenced at the National Special Education Centre for Physically Challenged Children, G-8/4.
The training was coordinated by the National Institute of Special Education (NISE) and attended by 45 faculty members and professionals from the service delivery centres of DGSE. The first technical session was delivered by Ms. Sara Farooq, Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist, focusing on nutrition awareness and the promotion of healthy lifestyle practices within special education settings. The session was conducted with full accessibility through Sign Language to ensure inclusive participation.
Despite being conducted in the second half of the day, the faculty members and professionals remained highly attentive, actively engaged, and deeply responsive throughout the session, reflecting their strong commitment to professional growth and student wellbeing.
Director General DGSE, Capt. (R) Asif Iqbal Asif, addressed the participants and emphasized the importance of sustained professional development and the integration of health education across Special Education Centres. Ms. Zaira Ahmad, Manager Corporate Affairs & Creating Shared Value (CSV), Nestle Pakistan, also spoke on the occasion and reaffirmed Nestle Pakistan’s commitment to supporting inclusive and sustainable health initiatives.
The training will continue on Friday and Saturday and will be replicated in phases across all Special Education Centres under DGSE. Dedicated sessions for parents and students will also be organized to further expand the programme’s outreach and ensure long-term impact.
