INTRODUCTION

 

            National Library & Resource Center was established in 1986 and since then it is rendering services to the Persons with Disabilities, their teaching staff, their parents, students of Special Education, faculty members of Special Education Centers/ Institutions under Directorate General of Special Education and the people having interest in Special Education and Disabilities.

 

FACILITIES AND SERVICES IN LINE WITH ARTICLE 21 OF UNCRPD:

  • Computer labs with internet connectivity, fully equipped with technical aids and adaptive technology
  • Mobile Library Service in twin cities.
  • Free membership for the PWDs.
  • Free Pick and drop facility is provided to PWDS.
  • Manuals on special education.
  • A collection of Audio Books and CDs on different topics are available.
  • Print/text enlargement and reading services on close circuit TVs for Partially Sighted or Low Visionary.
  • Preparation of Sign language CDs and its distribution among Hearing impaired users.
  • Text Accessibility & Legibility Centre (TALC) in the National Library & Resource Centre  (NL&RC);
  • A collection of Braille books on different subjects is available.
  • Documentaries, Audios/Talking Books, cartoons and songs, Videos on disabilities, games etc.
  • Computerization of data of Books on library software WINISIS.

COLLECTION

 

About 20000 Books and old Journals on Special Education, Disabilities, Education and Educational Management and Medical & Management Sciences.

  • Automation of library books on KOHA software and provision of link on website.
