National Special Education Centre for Hearing Impaired Children

The National Special Education Centre for Hearing Impaired Children (HIC), Islamabad is a specialized government institution dedicated to the education, habilitation and rehabilitation of children and young people with hearing impairment. The Centre provides education from pre-Nursery through graduation, together with specialized audiological assessment, speech and language therapy, counselling, pre-vocational training and co-curricular opportunities.

Mandate and Educational Services

  • Provide education and rehabilitation for children with hearing impairment at national level.
  • Provide free education from nursery/pre-Nursery through graduation level.
  • Offer educational opportunities through school and higher-level study pathways. Affiliated with University of the Punjab for degree-level study.
  • Support integration/mainstreaming in regular education where appropriate.

Admission Requirements and Procedure

Applications for registration and admission are accepted throughout the year on the prescribed form.

  • Medical screening is required.
  • Students must pass the school-readiness test.
  • The applicant must meet the Centre's prescribed health/admission requirements.
  • The prescribed admission form should be completed and submitted to the Centre with the child and relevant documents.
  • Guardian CNIC is required according to the Centre profile.
