Brief Introduction |
The National Institute of Special Education (NISE) was established in 1986 to train manpower associated with the noble cause of education, training and rehabilitation of children with disabilities. It provides services for the education, guidance, counseling, public awareness and rehabilitation of children with disabilities in Pakistan by organizing long-term as well as short-term training courses with active participation of national and local experts of various public and private organizations / universities working in the field of special education and rehabilitation sciences. |

i. Article 3 (General principles) It is ensured to keep in mind the dignity, equality, accessibility and rights of persons with disabilities while preparing and executing and trainings/ workshops and seminars for persons with disabilities or persons associated with PWDs. |
|
ii. Article 5 (Equality and non-discrimination) Efforts are made to provide facilities and services to the PWDs on the basis of equality and non-discrimination during training courses by providing them accessible and enabling environment. |

iii. Article 6 (Women with disabilities) Women with disabilities are included with maximum opportunities in the training courses and seminars arranged at NISE. |

iv. Article 8 (Awareness-raising) Awareness seminars, walks and other such activities arranged at NISE help raise awareness. 42 seminars were held during last five years in NISE. |

v. Article 9 (Accessibility) NISE is in accessible institute and it is ensured that PWDs are provided with an environment which is accessible and enabling for them. |

vi. Article 14 (Liberty and security of person) It is ensured that participants enjoy the right to liberty and security during the trainings and stay at NISE. |

vii. Article 17 (Protecting the integrity of the person) The integrity of the persons with disabilities is given top priority while dealing the participants during their trainings and stay at NISE. |

vii. Article 21 (Freedom of expression and opinion, and access to information) Training courses for PWDs help learn sign language, Braille, Augmentative and alternative communication. Furthermore a library has been established at NISE to provide maximum information to PWDs. |

ix. Article 24 (Education) Seminars / Training Courses/ Workshops & Awareness activities are conducted by NISE keeping in view their potential, sense of dignity, respect for human rights, personality development as well as development of PWDs mental and physical abilities to their fullest potential. |
