Introduction:
The National Institute of Special Education (NISE) was established in 1986 to train the workforce associated with the noble cause of educating, training, and rehabilitating children with disabilities. It provides education, guidance, counselling, public awareness, and rehabilitation services for children with disabilities in Pakistan by organizing long-term and short-term training courses, with active participation from national and local experts from various public and private organizations/universities working in special education and rehabilitation sciences.
Mandate:
- To develop modules and programmes for workforce training in the field of special education at national, provincial and regional levels.
- To organize short-term refresher courses for the teachers of special education.
- To organize awareness seminars in the field of special education
- To develop and publish material for the guidance and awareness of professionals and parents of children with special needs.
